Malaysia Car of the Year Unveils 2026 Buyers’ Guide at Exclusive Zeekr Sunway Space Event

SUBANG JAYA, 17 March 2026 – The definitive voice in Malaysian automotive journalism will mark a new chapter today with the official book launch of the Malaysia Car of the Year Annual Car Buyers’ Guide. The invite-only event takes place from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Zeekr Sunway Space in Subang Jaya.

Founded in 2002 by veteran motoring editor Yamin Vong, the Malaysia Car of the Year award was established alongside a panel of respected automotive journalists from various motoring publications. The recognition has been bestowed annually, pausing only for a two-year break beginning in 2020.

The judging resumed in 2023 in partnership with the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and Internet of Things Institute (MARii), an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

While winners were traditionally announced in a national daily newspaper, the last two years have introduced a new tradition: publishing the buyers’ guide as a premium, limited-edition coffee table book.

This year’s edition continues that legacy. The 2026 guide will be launched in physical format at the event, celebrating the Zeekr 009 – an electric MPV that redefines the luxury MPV segment – as the Malaysia Car of the Year winner.

True to the panel’s founding spirit of volunteer automotive editors and professionals, the guide remains a free resource for all motorists. Following the launch, the complete Annual Car Buyers’ Guide will be available as a free PDF download at www.malaysiacaroftheyear.com.
